3 Credit Cards With 100,000-Point Signup Bonuses

There are tons of credit cards with generous rewards for new cardholders to help them get the most out of their new card shortly after receiving it. However, credit cards that offer 100,000-point welcome bonuses are fewer and farther between.

Signing up for a rewards card with lucrative rewards for new customers is a great way to help you fund your next big-ticket purchase. The money you spend on things such as a new bedroom set or vacation can provide a significant boost to get you closer to the minimum spending amount (typically around $2,000).

Then, when you earn your rewards, you can exchange them and make up the cost of those big expenses.

Travel credit cards generally have the most extensive sign-on rewards programs, specifically branded cards from an airline or hotel. Even if you don’t have an allegiance to a particular airline or hotel company, travel cards can be an excellent choice — just check the annual fee to make sure it will actually benefit you.

You don’t want to get a credit card with a high annual fee or miscellaneous charges that will end up offsetting the initial reward. Also, you shouldn’t spend more than you should (or that you would in the first place) just to earn the points. The balance and subsequent interest it will accrue will counteract the value of any bonus.

To help you find the right rewards card for your needs, CNBC Select offers a list of the best credit cards with 100,000-points bonuses.

Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card

The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card only offers the 100,000-point reward to new qualifying customers. Unfortunately, if you are currently or previously had this card, you won’t be able to earn this bonus.

Capital One previously offered 50,000 miles to new customers, but now it’s doubled this reward so you can earn 100,000 miles. To qualify for these points, you need to spend a minimum of $20,000 within one year after signing up for the card.

If $20,000 is a little high for you, Capital One will still reward you with 50,000 for spending $3,000 or more within the first three months.

You can redeem your miles through Capital One’s Purchase Eraser and receive a statement credit that can make up for a wide range of expenses made up until December 31, 2020. You can also select other choices, such as gift cards, future travel reservations, and transfer to more than ten partnering airlines.

Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card

Like the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, only new Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card members can be eligible for this bonus. Keep in mind that American Express may also prohibit other types of Amex credit cards from qualifying as well.

But, if you’ve never opened an American Express credit card account before and spend a minimum of $4,000 in the first three months, you can receive up to 150,000 Hilton Honors points, which you can exchange for travel, dining, gift cards, and much more.

Hilton Honors American Express Surpass Card

If you are a new American Express or Hilton Honors member, you may be able to earn 130,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points when you spend at least $2,000 in the first three months. Like the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card, the points you earn for this credit card are redeemable for travel, dining, donations, gift cards, and more.

Ink Business Preferred Credit Card

The Ink Business Preferred Credit Card from Chase could have fewer eligibility restrictions than Amex’s Hilton Honors cards, but because they don’t explicitly state any exclusions, you should contact Chase and speak with a customer service representative to determine your eligibility.

With this credit card, you can enjoy 100,000 points when you spend a minimum of $15,000 in the first three months you sign up. Plus, when you redeem your points for travel rewards using Chase Ultimate Rewards, you can get 25% more on your bonus — leaving you with about $1,250 in cash for your next airline ticket or hotel stay. You can also exchange your rewards for gift cards and frequent flyer programs with partner airlines and hotels.
