Never Buy These 7 Things From the Grocery Store

While it is cool to shop locally, there are just certain things from your next door, neighborhood grocery store that are just way overpriced. It is better to spend that money elsewhere! Make sure you skip these purchases the next time you drop in for a visit.

  1. Batteries

Oddly enough, batteries have proven to be an essential part of life. This does not mean you should overpay though. Go to your warehouse club and stock up on bulk packages to get more value for your money.

  1. Magazines

A single issue is at least $3. Go to the website of these magazines and you can probably subscribe for a year for less than $20, with the magazines delivered to your door.

  1. Diapers

Maintaining your baby’s bottom is an incredibly big expense. The cheapest and most eco-friendly solution is to use cloth diapers instead. If this is not possible, you can buy diapers in bulk from warehouse clubs or wait for sales and stock up on drugstore-brand diapers.

  1. Alcoholic beverages

These are big money makers for grocery stores. Skip the markup and pick up your booze from the warehouse club instead.

  1. Special occasion cakes

Of course, picking up a birthday cake, or any special occasion cake, from the grocery store is convenient. It is just there! But if you need to feed a crowd, you will have to pay a lot of money for your cake. Instead, go the warehouse club, order a giant decorated sheet cake, and pay the same price for a small cake from your grocery store.

  1. Bottled water

Unless your tap water is unhealthy, there is no reason to buy bottled water. Regular water will hydrate you equally, plus it is free from your home. If your tap water tastes iffy, you can invest in a water filter and remember to use reusable water bottles!

  1. Pet food

Big box stores often have the best deals for pet food. You can also get discounts and coupons for an even lower price that will make you and your pet really happy!
